santafenewmexican > Dave Warren, 2010 Povi'ka Award winner, addresses the crowd after receiving his award at SWAIA's annual Honoring Reception at the Loretto Inn on Jun. 10, 2010. The reception is a celebration of Native artists whose works have inspired and mentored generations of artists, and individuals and organizations that support and advance the understanding of Native arts and culture. Luis Sanchez Saturno/ The New Mexican.
santafenewmexican > Artist Sandy Keller applies a coat of varnish to one of her finished paintings at her home workshop on Jun. 10, 2010. Keller is upset because Santa Fe County is asking her to pay for a business license even though she sells her work in a gallery on Canyon Road in the city of Santa Fe. Why? The argument is that she paints in her studio in Eldorado so is engaging in business. Keller is one of many being caught up in the county's recent efforts to make sure anyone doing business in the county is paying for a license. Luis Sanchez Saturno/ The New Mexican.
