"We're getting hammered today," said Glenn Tafoya, owner of Pack, Ship and Mail, located at 903 W. Alameda in the Solana shopping center. "We've had two UPS sweeps, and there's a line now."
Today and Wednesday will be busy, too, Tafoya said.
That's because Wednesday is the last day for Fedex, UPS and USPS ground shipments of packages to the East Coast of the U.S.
"After Wednesday shipments to the East Coast won't make it" in time for Christmas, he said. "But shipments to California will."
As for business overall this year of an economic recession, "we're up from last year," Tafoya said.
For those who use the United States Postal Service, workers suggest printing he address on the front and side of a box being mailed. They also advise writing the address of the recipient on a piece of paper and slipping it inside the package just in case.
Also, use sturdy tape so packages don't come open and make sure the zip code is correct because it's the way mail is sorted.
