The mentoring young men project, which is in its 9th year, at Capshaw Middle school, is a unique weekly support group for 8th grade boys. They focused on teen pregnancy and violence prevention. The group explored the question, "what does it mean to be a healthy male? This year they painted a mural in their cafetaria with the help of local artist, John Santos. The project is a collaboration with many different local organizations in the community, which is coordinated by Nancy David, Wellness Counselor at Capshaw and Carlos Balladares, a masters level social work graduate.
