santafenewmexican > Children from Santa Fe’s Carlos Gilbert Elementary School joined Governor Susana Martinez on in the New Mexico State Capitol Rotunda on Monday February 11, 2013, to share their contributions to the “Connecting a Century of Dreams” Centennial project. Governor Martinez read the dream of Santa Fe’s Carlos Gilbert Elementary 1st grader Max Ortega (red T-shirt) who wrote, “Take care of people. Don’t be violent. Don’t litter. My dream is to take care of people”. Connecting a Century of Dreams: A Centennial Project, involved participation of children across New Mexico are connecting to their future and participating in this project by sharing their dreams for the future of New Mexico, along with their first name and age on commemorative bands. In all, 10,000 bands have been collected and linked together to form a chain of hope and dreams for the future of our great state. Governor Martinez also read the dreams of Max’s fellow Carlos Gilbert Elementary students Maxie Martinez, Hattie Flynn Abigail Sharpless, Dillon Abeyta (not seen) and Alan Schmidt (from left).
